What Do I Need To Bring?
You only need to bring two things, assuming you need them:  your prescription glasses; your prescription medicine!

You don't need to bring any gear, as Purple Hat will be supplying that.  In fact, Purple Hat doesn't want you to bring anything else, because, assuming you do have backpacking gear, it is probably too heavy, even if it is new.  Because Purple Hat is an advocate of going light, he knows what to take and what not to take.  A true "gram weinie," Purple Hat believes that "if you take care of the grams, the pounds will take care of themselves! "  Much of the gear he supplies does double or triple duty in the mountains.

Purple Hat supplies you with everything else!  Some of this gear is specially modified by him or made by him.  This is the same gear he takes himself when he is in the Sierras.  It is all new, and state of the art.  While somethings will wear out somewhat during the trip, like your boots, most of the gear will remain good for years and years of more backpacking.

You are not allowed to bring along food items, or money, or credit cards, as you won't loose weight if you are supplementing your trail rations with Payday candy bars, for instance, or you are binging on 1/2 pound bacon cheese hamburgers with milk shakes and chili fries at the few places where civilization has unfortunately edged its way into the wilderness.

You are allowed to bring along a camera and/or art supplies, depending on the size and weight of them.
